Mix/Green
Although the black and navy colorways of this jacket may be sparsely sprinkled across retailers and wardrobes, this mossy green piece was specially preordered from Craig Green and was not carried anywhere besides Dover Street Market.
One of Craig Green’s staples, the workwear jacket is an exercise in minimalism and refined utilitarianism - how can one execute a garment like this with contemporary relevance and artful style? From the small gestures like a boxy cut and horizontal back seam construction to the layered and levitating geometric front pockets, the form of this recurring Craig Green is at once steeped in heritage and incredibly fresh. The green boucle fabric produces not only a beautiful visual depth in its pile but also suggests, unconsciously, images of greenery. Personally, the green loops peeking through the silky brown weave conjure the sights of mossy green growths sprouting from worn concrete structures in the city landscape. As such, the piece becomes an excellent envisioning of clothing as an interface between wearer and environment, an intimate medium on which textures and images that exist on a larger scale can be mapped. A form of urban camouflage, illustrating jarring visual sameness and difference.
