Scott Fly Rod Sponsored 1 Day Spring Creek School
In conjunction with Scott Fly Rods, we are pleased to be offering this very popular school
Do highly educated and tippet shy wary brown trout, laying in low and clear water, with strange currents intimidate you?? These creeks can challenge even the best of anglers, flies have to be exact, approaches have to be stealthy, drifts have to be perfect and drag free. These are not the creeks for beginners, you must bring your “A” game, your casting has to be precise and have knowledge of local hatches. Even the clothes you wear may all play a part in whether you become a successful Spring Creek angler. I have seen seasoned anglers fish these creeks once and never return because of the frustration level. But the reward is worth every second of frustration.
This school is designed for the intermediate to advanced angler who wants to learn the ways of the Spring Creek and it’s residents. Most anglers who take the course fall in love with these creeks as they are generally less visited by other anglers. Your skill level and powers of observation will be heightened allowing you to go to nearly any creek without ever being intimidated again.
Enjoy a full day of instruction that will help you unravel the mysteries of the spring creek. The day will be dedicated to solving these small technical trout streams, an emphasis will be placed on gear selection and setup, casting, flies, stalking and approach. In addition, you will gain the understanding of the dynamics of these streams, hatches and their fish. These streams demand a certain degree of precision, patience and this experience and will help any student improve their angling skills. A surreal experience.
Iron Bow Fly Shop has hosted this very popular Spring Creek School for the fourth year. Michael Day and Paul Laframboise, Bow River guides and small creek enthusiasts will be hosting this year.
Nestled on the east slope of the foothills of the Rockies, the classroom is a clear tranquil brown trout stream, a short 45 kms from Calgary. This will challenge even the most experienced angler and refine his or her skills.
